Knoxville, TN - May 13-16 - Tom Black Track - KTC Youth Athletics Alumni accounted for themselves well at this past weekends SEC Track and Field Championships held at Tom Black Track.. Tennessee's Soph Ellen Wortham's led all former KTC Athletes with a second place finish in the 400 hurdles (57.77). A pair of 5th place finishes were recorded by Tennessee Soph Emerson Peacock in the 800 (1:48.7) and Tennessee junior Holly Kane in the Javelin (142-10). Also on the track were Kentucky's Frosh Matt Sonnenfeldt 14th in the 5000 (14:23) and Tennessee senior Chris Kane 26th (14:49). Great job KTC Alumni !!!

4/18/10 - Knoxville, TN. The 47th Annual Volunteer Track Classic is in the books. 2000 athletes and over 100 National Elite performances !! Highlighted by outstanding distance performances by Blacksburg, Virginia's powerhouse team. In winning the girls team title the Blacksburg girls noctched 4 US Top 10 performances led by the nations #1 and # 2 girls 2 mile runs of Joanna and Kathleen Stevens. On the boys side Georgia's Brookwood HS took top team honors highlighted by a US # 7 Distance Medley Relay. Three meet records and 16 US top 10 performances. Boston, MA - 3/12-3/14/10 - Congrats to all KTC Athletes that competed this past weekend in Boston at the Nike Indoor National Championships. KTC's athletes came away with a number of PR's and Top 30 performances highlighted by the two Indoor ALL AMERICAN designations of CLINT MCKELVEY (3rd in 2M @ 9:06) and JUSTIN EMERSON (5th in the 60 Dash @ 6.87)

1/24/10 - Johnson City, TN - The KTC High School Indoor Classic completed another successfull run at the Memorial Center on the campus of East Tennessee State University. In all 4 US # 2 marks were set and another 23 US top 10 marks were posted during the two day meet. With throwers leading the way the KTC High School Indoor Classic proved once again a great stop for early season national performances. 11/28/09 - Charlotte, NC- Local High School Cross Country Runners representing the Knoxville Track Club produced standout performances at the 2009 Footlocker South Regional Cross Country Championships at McCalpine Park. Led by Catholic High School's State Cross Country Champ (AAA) Megan Ferowich's 4th place finish in the seeded girls race - KTC athletes landed 14 on the All-South team in high school competition. KTC also added another 3 Footlocker All-South Runners in the age group races led by Karlie Yinger's (13-14G) third place finish in 19:13.
Ferowich covered the 5K course in a blazing 17:11 qualifying her for the prestigious Footlocker National Championships December 12 in San Diego. Ferowich becomes only the second female runner from the area to qualify for Footlocker Nationals in the last 30 years following in the footsteps of former West High School standout Christy Baird who qualified in 1997. She joins a select group of six area high school runners that done the same since 1979 --> Tony Cosey - Central (91) / Wes Stockard - Webb (96,97) / Christy Baird - West (97) / Matthew Sonnenfeldt - West (08) / Clint McKelvey - Maryville (08).

11/20/09 - Knoxville, TN. - KTC's Post Season Cross Country Program will be the host for the second annual Post Season 3200m / 1600m time trials. KTC's athletes will get thier first fast test prior to taking on the McAlpine Speedway 11/28 in Charlotte, NC - home of the Footlocker South Regional Cross Country Championships. A great field is expected with seven of the top sixteen girls finishers and five of the top thirteen boys finishers (AAA) at this years State High School Cross Country Championships. Action starts at 11:00 AM at Hardin Valley Academy track.

10/24/09 - Knoxville, TN. - On a great fall day for cross country Tennessee State Champions were crowned at the fourth Tennessee State Middle School Cross Country Championships held at Victor Ashe Park. The girls individual state champion Abigail Topham (Cordova MS) won in convincing fashion crossing the finish line over 30 seconds up on runner-up Emily Peters from St. Matthews. As West TN took many of the inidvidual honors, East TN garnerd the top spots on the team side with West View MS (Morristown) taking the team championship (79 pts) over Bearden MS (151). On the boys side West View's Quinton Mckinnish turned in and equally impressive performance winning the boys title (11:36) over West Valley MS's Noah Gettlefinger (11:50). The boys team race saw Webb MS continue its winning ways by taking the State Championship (73 pts) over Brentwood MS (123) For all the details:

| 10/6/09 - Knoxville, TN. - The ETHC- KTC ES / MS Cross Country Program held its Championship meet at Victor Ashe Park today with over 800 particiants competing over the 1 mile elementary and 2 mile middle school courses. Karns Middle School's Karlie Yinger continued her undefeated season wining the girls MS individual title in 13:37 - 24 seconds up on Tru Powell of Bearden and Chase Henry of West Vallley. West Valley captured the girls team title 49 to 59 over Bearden MS. The top five girls teams advance to the state championships 10/24/09 (West Valley / Bearden / Webb / South Doyle / Karns). In the boys race West Valley's Noah Gettlefinger broke away late in the race to claim the boys title in 12:12 over Carpenters MS's Chris Fernandez and Webb's Andrew Robinson. Webb MS boys took home the team title with 30 points over second place West Valley (44) and Farragut MS (127). State team qualifiers included (Webb / West Valley / Farragut / Powell / Karns. |

With over 457,000 participants outdoor track and field remained the most popular sport for girls in the United States based on an annual report released by the NFHS. On the boys sdie track and field was second (football first) with 558,000 participants. Combine these totals along with girls and boys cross country and 1,445,000 kids took part in high school track and field or cross country. KTC Youth Athletics would love you to get in our game and hope to see you on the track or cross country courses this year. |

KTC qaulified 100 athletes to the AAU National Championships to be held at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa in August. In addition KTC swept the Girls, Boys and Overal team titles. 4/14/09 - Knoxville, TN - The 2009 Volunteer Track Classic gets underway 4/17 at UT's Tom Black Track. A first for this year the VTC will see college women's competition take place during the high school competition with the Lady Vols sections. With over 2000 athletes expected to compete in the 2 day event - the VTC is the largest track and field event held on Tom Black Track in 2009. For more information click the logo below:

3/14/09 - 3/15/09 - Boston, MA KTC takes its largest team ever to the Nike Indoor National Track and Filed Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston, MA. KTC will be represented by 11 area athletes in the best high school track and field meet in the nation. Saturday started with a bang as three KTC athletes took to the track with great results. Maryville HS's Julia Petree placed 15th in the 400 running an indoor PR of 58.03 and followed it up shortly thereafter with a 25.57 - 200, near her seasons best. In only his first season of triple jumping Oak Ridge HS's JaDon Short equaled his PR of 45' 5" placing 11th. The best of the first day was saved for last as Webb school freshman Marjorie Butler crushed the final event of the pentathlon (800m run) to go from 12th to 6th earning her All-American honors. On day two kTC'ers hit the track with 4 top 15 finishes - Jadon Short 11th in the Triple Jump, Jordan Chaney 11th in the 800, Clint McKelvey - 8th in the 3200 and Matt Sonnenfeldlt 12th in the 3200. Way to go KTC.

| 2/28/09 - Maysville, KY - KTC Youth Athletes ventured to Mason Co HS for the second time this indoor season with similar results. Mason Co meet #2 proved to be much larger than the first yet KTC athletes once again were at the top of results lists notching three wins led again by a stellar performance by Tamara Hundley winning the 55 and 400 dashes. Her 55 winning time would have won the High School 55. Watch out for Hundley as she turns her sights to outdoor track. |
| 2/21/09 - Lexington, KY - 22 of KTC's High School athletes qualifiied for competittion at the University of Kentucky Invitational held at Nutter Fieldhouse. KTC athletes posted outstanding marks leading to a record 12 athletes achieving qualifying marks for the prestigious Nike Indoor National Championships in Boston, MA in March. KTC's Amber Zimmerman took the two mile title in an outstanding 11:15 as KTC's lone event winner. Zimmernan's time hits the Nike qualifying standard as well as USATF World Youth Trials qualifier. Following Zimmerman's lead KTC's Matt Sonnenfeldt placed second in the boys two mile running a stellar 9:15 which ranks as US # 6 for the Indoor Season. |

| 2/7/09 - Maysville, KY - KTC Youth Athletes (14 and under) shine at KTCCA Indoor meet in Maysville, Kentucky. Winning 10 of the 25 available events KTC Youth Athletics put down a dominating performance with many of our athletes performances fast enough to place in the High School division of the meet. 1/30-31/09 - Johnson City, TN - just the second year at its new home (East Tennessee State University) the KTC Indoor Track Classic has become an indoor meet of national significance. This past weekend the two day meet held in conjunction with the Nisswonger College Invitational produced one National High School record, three US # 1 performances and 14 US top 10 marks. On Friday New Bern's (NC) 4x400 relay team broke a 12 year old National Indoor Record (Muir, CA - 96') running a US leading 3:13.24. Following Friday's fireworks Saturday saw Takiea Pinkney (GA) run to a US # 1 mark nipping Chalonda Goodman (member of US World Junior Team) in the 60 dash 7.45 to 7.47. Goodmans mark ranks US # 3 in her first indoor effort of 2009. Shortly after Pinkney's fast 60 Jasmin Stowers (SC) ripped off a US leading 60 hurdle mark of 8.55 easliy topping the rest of the 60 hurdle finalists. | 1/18/09 - Knoxville TN - Former UT All-American Stewart Ellington bistered the challenging Victor Ashe 8K course in 26:11 in the first annual Dirty Dozen Doozy 8K Cross Country Race. 78 runners gathered to challenge hay bales - creek cross overs in a Euro - Style Corss Country Experience. 12/6/08 - West Chester, OH - KTC Youth Athletes performed well at the Coaches Youth National Cross Country Championships. Braving fridged conditions and blowing snow KTC Athletes came across the line with four top 30 finishes led by Bearden HS's Rebecca Stover's 8th place finish in the Youth girls 4K. 11/29/08 - Charlotte , NC - KTC qualifies two to the prestigious Footlocker Cross Country National Championships. Matthew Sonnenfeldt (West HS) led the way for KTC with a second place finish at the Footlocker South Regional Championships held at McCalpine Park in Charlotte, NC. Sonnenfeldt covered the 5K Course in 14:50, the fifth fastest time nationally this year. Maryville junior Clint McKelvey followed Sonnenfeldt home in 8th place with a stellar 15:10 clocking also punching his ticket to San Diego. Sonnenfeldt and McKelvey will join 38 other (10 ea from 4 regions) cross country runners from around the country for the National Championships on 12/13/08

10/18/08 - Knoxville, TN. On a day made for cross country Westminster Academy's Mallinda Allen and McFadden's Brock Baker ran to Individual State Tiitles both shatering the existing course records at Victor Ashe Park. This while University School (boys) in Johnson City and Memphis's St Agnes (girls) garnered the state team titles. Top 20 girls and boys iin the Varsity races garnered All-State honors for thier outstanding efforts.

7/13/08 - Knoxville, TN - KTC's Youth Competitive Track and Field team qualifies 85 individuals and 7 relay teams to the AAU National Championships. 85 KTC athletes and 7 relay teams puched thier ticket to the Nationals Detriot, MI by virtue of placing in the top four in thier respective events at the AAU Region 3A Championships held in Knoxville (Tom Black Track) this past weekend. KTC also swept the girls, boys and overall team titles repeating thier performance of two weeks earlier at the Southeastern District Championships in Johnson City, TN. | 6/30/08 - 7/6/08 - Eugene, Oregon - Curent and former KTC event specialty coaches shine at US Olympic Track and Field Trials. Former KTC event specialty coaches Kamesha Bennett Martin (800 - 3rd) Tim Mack (PV - finalist), Aries Merrit (110H - 4th), Lee Smith (Jav - 5th), Aretha Hill Thurmond (DISC - 1st) joined and Jebreh Harris (800 - finalist) joined current coaches Phoebe Wright (800) and Evander Wells (200 semi-finalist) with outstanding performances at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon |
| 6/27-28/08 - Johnson City, Tennessee - KTC Competitive Team athletes rose to the challenge and brought home the Girls / Boys and Overal Team Titles for the 17th time in the last 18 years outdistancing the Memphis Mustangs by over 500 points. In addition KTC qualified 131 athletes to the AAU Region 3A Championships in Knoxville, TN July 10-13. Congratulations to Competitive Team Director Shane Begnaud, coaches and athletes. | 6/23/08 - Columbus, Ohio - KTC Competitive Team Alumns Danielle Sampley (Univ of Kentucky) and Holly Kane (Univ of Tennessee) performed well at the USATF Junior (19 and under) National Championships in Columbus, OH. Kane throwing the javelin placed 13th while Sampley competing in the Heptathlon placed 4th. As a result of meeting the entry standard and her placing in the meet Sampley will qualify to compete in the World Junior Championships in Poland this summer. Congrats ladies !!!! |
Knoxville, TN - Over 1000 kids ages 5-18 participated in this years East Tennessee Heart Consultants / KTC Summer Track and Field Program. Our program concluded with the final meet on 6/28/08. 6/9/08 - Des Moines, Iowa - Former KTC Competitve Team Members to compete at NCAA Track and Field Championships. Tennessee's Yarrick Kincade (800) and Kentucky's Danielle Sampley (Heptathlon) will take part in the NCAA track and field championships this week at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Kincade a senior will take a shot at making the 800 final in his last season at UT while Sampley enters as one of only two Freshman in the Heptathlon following her runner-up finish at last months SEC Championships. 6/9/08- Vancover, British Columbia - Former UT and KTC Youth Athletics Standout Eric Bell wins World Triathlon Championships. Bell under tough weather conditions outdistanced the international field. Next up for the local star will be a leap to the professional ranks and a shot at the 2012 Olympics. Congrats Eric.

4/19/08 Knoxville, TN. - The 45th Annual Volunteer Track Classic proved once again to be one of the meets to attend in the South as the meets Female MVP Jackie Coward blazed to two US # 1 performances and meet records in the 100 and 300 hurlde races. Coward's 13.11 clocking for 100 hurdles albeit wind aided is the 12th fastest time in the world this year. Ohio's Trottwood Madison (boys) and Virginia's Blacksburg High School (girls) claimed the team titles.

3/27/08 - Knoxville, TN - Former KTC and Willaim Blount HS standout Danielle Sampley was selected to the Freshman All-SEC Indoor Track Team. Competing for the University of Kentucky, Sampley made the team in the Pentathlon. Congrats Danielle !!

| 3/5/08 - Knoxville, TN - Two KTC Youth Athletes placed on "watch list" for the 2009 World Youth Championships. KTC's Amber Zimmerman (1500 / 3000) and Marjorie Butler (100H) have been placed on the watch list for the 2009 USA Team that will compete in the World Youth Track and Field Championships. | 3/5/08 - Knoxville, TN - Former KTC standouts preformed well in college indoor conference meets. At the SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships KTC Alumns Yarrick Kincaid (Tennessee - 800) and Danielle Sampley (Kentucky - Heptathlon) notched All-SEC honors while Haley Moody (Alabama - 3000) was just one spot out of All-SEC honors. In the ACC Jenae Anderson (Georgia Tech - 60 / 4x400) nailed down All-ACC honors with a 6th place finish in the 60 dash and a scoring leg on the 4x400. Conrats KTC Alumns. | 2/23/08 - Lexington, KY - KTC High School Athletes showed well at the UK High School Invite held at Kemtucky's Nutter Fieldhouse. Ellen Wortham soared 5"6" to win the girls High Jump one of the top 15 jumps in the nation this year. Wortham came back to place 5th in the 60 hurdles. Matt Sonnenfeldt placed 3rd in the Boys 2 mile with a PR 9:20. Four athletes set marks to qualify for the Nike Indoor National Championships. For complete results click: Results |
2/18/08 - Chapel Hill, NC - KTC Youth (14 and under) athletes performed well above expectations at the USATF South Zone Indoor Track and Field Championships held in the Eddie Smith Fieldhouse (University of North Carolina). KTC athletes brought home 3 of the 8 available team titles (Midget Boys - Youth Girls - Youth Boys) while placing second in the Bantam Girls, fourth in the Sub-Bantam Girls and fifth in the sub-midget divisions. 2/9-10/08 - Bloomington, IN - The 50+ athlete contingent of KTC High School and Youth Athletes ventured north to Indiana Universtiy for the Indian Open and Falcon Challenge Indoor Track and Field Meets. In the High School Meet KTC's Ellen Wortham scored a double win in the High Jump and 60 Hurdles while Holly Joiner placed second in the 60 dash. On 2/10 KTC Youth Athletes took center stage notching 13 first place finishes led by Roderick Lewis's triple in the 60, 200 and 400 dashes. For results please click on links below

12/29/07 - Knoxville, TN - East Tennessee Heart Consultants / KTC Indoor Track and Field Program kicks off 1/6/08 with our first practice. This eight week program exposes kids to the sport of indoor track and field. Kids practice 3x week with opportunities to compete in selected indoor meets in January and February. The ETHC / KTC Indoor Track and Field Program is a great way for kids to get a healthy start to the New Year and to give those running outdoor track a leg up on preparing for a great outdoor track and field season.

12/12/07 - Knoxville, TN - KTC Youth Athletics runners Melanie Kulez (Oak Ridge HS) and Matthew Sonnenfeldt (West HS) named Prep Xtra Cross Country Runners of the Year ! eight of the fourteen first team slots were occupied by KTC runners. | 12/1/07 - Lexington, KY - KTC's contingent of youth cross country runners had an outstanding outing at the inaugural Cross Country Coaches Youth National Championships held at Masterson Station Park. Led by West Valley MS's Rebecca Stover (07 TN State MS CC Champ - KTC MS CC Champ) National Title in the Youth Girls 4k (14:40), 13 KTC Athletes became national medallists by virtue of a top 25 finish. |
| 11/24/07 - Charlotte, NC / Birmingham, AL - KTC Athletes continued their school cross country season success in the post season by notching outstanding performances at both the Footlocker South Regional and Nike Team Nationals Southeast Region races held on 11/24. In Charlotte KTC runners garnered 11 All-South certificates led by Matthew Sonnenfeldt's 21st place finish in the seeded boys race with a 15:24 - 5K time. In Birmingham, AL KTC's Oak Ridge contingent led by overall champ Maclean O'Donnell won the team race qualifying them for a trip to Portland, OR and the Nike Team Nationals. |
10/27/07 - Lexington, KY - KTC Youth Athletics Alumns - Hayley Moody (Alabama), Tara Tae (South Carolina), Andrew Press (Tennessee), Denton Jones (Tennessee), Yarrick Kincaid (Tennessee) and Chris Kane (Tennessee) ran impressive races at the SEC Cross Country Championships. Top Alumn finishes included a 13th place finish in the women's 6K for Moody (second team All-SEC honors) and a matching 13th place finish for Andrew Press in the men's 8K - Congrats KTC Alumns !!!!
